Chester/Lake Almanor

Lush meadows, brilliant fall colors, & lake view golf

The Chester/Lake Almanor Basin, best known as one of Northern California's recreational paradises, serves as the gateway to Lassen Volcanic National Park. This area serves as the southern terminus of the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, and is the ideal setting for an old-fashioned summer family vacation. Indian Valley, located between Lake Almanor and Quincy, was originally the home of the mountain Maidu Indians.

Hidden treasures include Lake Almanor, offering water sports and year-round fishing; Chester Museum/Library, featuring historical photographs along with Maidu Indian basketry and artifacts; and Indian Valley Museum, featuring local history exhibits.
